1. VitalQi is not medicine
VitalQi reports are wellness and lifestyle insights inspired by traditional East Asian frameworks — BaZi (八字), five-phase (五行) theory, seasonal climatology (五运六气), and related classical sources. They are provided for reflection, entertainment, and self-care planning.
VitalQi reports are not:
- medical advice, diagnosis, or prognosis of any condition;
- a screening tool for disease;
- a treatment, prescription, or therapy;
- a substitute for evaluation or care by a licensed physician, nurse practitioner, or other qualified health professional.
2. What the tradition is — stated honestly
The frameworks we draw from are centuries-old systems of correspondence and observation. They are a cultural lens, not a scientifically validated diagnostic method; we make no claims of clinical accuracy, and we encourage you to weigh every insight against your own lived experience. Where we quote classical texts, we quote them as heritage, not as evidence.
3. What the report's suggestions are
Food choices, sleep rhythm, movement routines (such as Baduanjin), and seasonal timing offered in a report are general wellness suggestions. Gentle as they are, they are not tailored medical instructions:
- If you are pregnant, follow your obstetric provider's guidance before any new movement routine.
- If you live with a medical condition — especially cardiovascular, endocrine, renal, or psychiatric conditions — consult your physician before changing diet, supplements, or exercise.
- If you take prescription medication, never adjust dosage or stop medication because of anything in a report.
- If you have allergies or dietary restrictions, ignore any food suggestion that conflicts with them.
4. The safety screen has limits
Every report begins with a two-question safety screen. It exists so we can avoid suggesting routines that could be unwise for you — it does not detect, rule out, or monitor any medical condition. A "clear" screen means nothing medical.
5. Your responsibility
By using VitalQi you confirm you are 18 or older and accept that decisions about your health remain yours, made ideally together with qualified professionals. Do not delay seeking medical care because of anything you read here.
6. Where to get real help
- Emergency: 911 (US) or your local emergency number.
- US crisis line (24/7): call or text 988.
- Primary care: your physician or a local urgent-care clinic.
